Job Description:
We are looking for a highly experienced and commercially-minded Senior UI/UX Designer to join our team at Fent, LLC. As a specialist in the Shopify ecosystem, you will be responsible for creating high-converting, world-class digital storefronts. The ideal candidate doesn’t just design beautiful interfaces but understands the “why” behind e-commerce—using user psychology and data to drive sales while maintaining a premium brand aesthetic.
Key Responsibilities:
Shopify Storefront Design: Lead the end-to-end design process for Shopify and Shopify Plus storefronts, ensuring a mobile-first approach and seamless checkout experience.
Design System Management: Utilize and contribute to the Shopify Polaris design system to ensure app and admin-side consistency.
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Conduct A/B testing, heatmap analysis (Hotjar/Crazy Egg), and usability audits to identify friction points and improve Key Performance Indicators like AOV (Average Order Value) and CVR (Conversion Rate).
Prototyping & Handoff: Develop high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes in Figma, ensuring designs are “developer-ready” by understanding the constraints of Shopify’s Liquid templating language.
Merchant-Centric Research: Conduct user research specifically targeting merchant needs and buyer personas to transform complex e-commerce requirements into intuitive flows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Shopify Developers, Product Managers, and Marketing teams to align design execution with technical feasibility and business goals.
Accessibility & Compliance: Ensure all designs meet WCAG/ADA accessibility standards, which is critical for global e-commerce brands.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with at least 3+ years focused specifically on e-commerce (DTC or B2B).
Expert Proficiency in Figma: Mastery of auto-layouts, components, and design systems is essential.
Shopify Ecosystem Knowledge: Deep understanding of Shopify’s theme architecture, app extensions, and the checkout customization process.
Data-Driven Mindset: Ability to interpret Google Analytics and e-commerce data to inform design iterations.
Technical Literacy: While you won’t be coding, a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and Liquid constraints is highly preferred to ensure your designs can actually be built.
Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing successful Shopify store launches, emphasizing user journeys and measurable business impact.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience designing for Shopify Plus enterprise-level merchants.
Familiarity with third-party Shopify apps (e.g., Klaviyo, ReCharge, PageFly, Shogun).
Experience with Motion Design (Lottie, After Effects) to enhance micro-interactions and product storytelling.
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum workflows in a fast-paced agency or product environment.
