About the Role
The Design Engineer will be responsible for executing detailed mechanical engineering activities related to boilers, heaters, and associated auxiliary systems used in process and power industries. The role involves preparation of engineering deliverables, coordination with cross-functional teams, interaction with customers and vendors, and ensuring compliance with applicable national and international design codes and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret project specifications, technical requirements, and engineering standards
- Perform mechanical design activities related to:
- Boiler pressure parts
- Structural components
- Piping systems
- Ducting systems
- Material handling equipment
- Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings, foundation drawings, and detailed engineering drawings
- Provide technical inputs to vendors for procurement of engineering components
- Review and approve vendor drawings and technical documentation
- Coordinate with customers, consultants, and internal stakeholders for engineering clarifications and approvals
- Support resolution of technical issues during engineering, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning phases
- Ensure compliance with applicable national and international design codes and standards
- Provide engineering support to proposal and estimation teams during bid preparation stages
- Participate in technical discussions and project review meetings
Qualifications
B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
- Working knowledge of boiler and heater systems used in industrial applications
- Familiarity with fuel handling systems, ash handling systems, and auxiliary equipment
- Experience in applying design codes such as IBR, ASME, EN, BS, and API
- Understanding of manufacturing processes including welding, bending, assembly, and transportation considerations
- Ability to interpret P&ID diagrams and engineering flow schematics
- Knowledge of piping layouts, routing practices, and engineering change management processes
