The Department of Biotechnology offers B.Tech and M.Tech programs in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, and Food Technology, with a focus on interdisciplinary learning, research, innovation, and industry relevance aligned with global standards.
Role Overview
The Associate Dean will provide academic leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight to ensure excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and industry engagement across all programs in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, and Food Technology.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership
- Lead curriculum design and continuous improvement aligned with NEP 2020, UGC, and industry requirements
- Ensure outcome-based education (OBE) and accreditation readiness (NAAC/NBA)
- Promote innovative teaching pedagogies including experiential, project-based, and interdisciplinary learning
- Supervise academic delivery, assessments, and quality assurance
2. Research & Innovation
- Foster a strong research culture in areas such as biotechnology, bioinformatics, food technology, and allied domains
- Establish Centers of Excellence (CoE) and research labs
- Encourage publications, patents, funded projects, and consultancy
- Promote interdisciplinary research with AI, data science, and healthcare
3. Industry & Collaboration
- Develop industry partnerships for internships, live projects, and placements
- Collaborate with research organizations, biotech firms, food industries, and healthcare sectors
- Facilitate MoUs, joint research, and global academic collaborations
4. Student Development & Outcomes
- Ensure high-quality student learning outcomes and placements
- Mentor students for higher education, research, and entrepreneurship
- Promote innovation, startups, and incubation activities
- Support student participation in competitions, hackathons, and conferences
5. Administration & Governance
- Manage departmental operations including faculty workload, timetables, and resource allocation
- Lead recruitment, development, and performance management of faculty and staff
- Ensure compliance with university policies, regulatory bodies, and accreditation standards
- Prepare reports for academic councils, boards, and statutory bodies
6. Infrastructure & Lab Development
- Plan and develop state-of-the-art laboratories in biotechnology, bioinformatics, and food technology
- Ensure proper utilization and upgradation of equipment and facilities
- Promote digital and smart lab ecosystems
Qualifications & Experience
- B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D. in Biotechnology / Bioinformatics / Food Technology / Life Sciences or related field
- Minimum 10–15 years of academic/research experience, including leadership roles
- Strong track record of research publications, funded projects, and academic administration
- Experience with NAAC/NBA accreditation processes preferred
