Senior Python Backend Developer

Job Summary

Whizzact Pvt Limited is hiring a Senior Python Backend Developer to join our growing technology team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and deploy scalable eCommerce and Digital platform applications using Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Azure, and Microservices architecture. This is a senior-level role with mentorship responsibilities and active involvement in architectural decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI
• Architect scalable backend solutions and microservices
• Design, implement, and optimize database schemas in PostgreSQL
• Deploy and manage applications on Microsoft Azure
• Implement secure authentication and authorization using JWT and OAuth2
• Integrate third-party APIs and external services
• Optimize application performance and ensure high availability
• Write unit and integration tests using PyTest
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making
• Mentor junior developers and conduct thorough code reviews
• Ensure robust integration with databases including PostgreSQL and MongoDB
• Conduct architectural governance and ensure adherence to development standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on Python (3.x) development experience
• Strong expertise with FastAPI framework
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL — complex queries, indexing, and performance optimization
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services: App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL/PostgreSQL, Azure Storage, and Azure DevOps
• Proficiency with ORM frameworks — SQLAlchemy and/or Django ORM
• Solid understanding of asynchronous programming concepts
• Experience with Docker, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and Git version control
• Experience in eCommerce, Digital Commerce, or Digital Banking is highly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (Master’s degree preferred)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong ability to influence architectural and business decisions
• Customer-centric and outcome-driven mindset
