Position Summary:

Quality Assurance Analysts are responsible for ensuring quality across team / domain-specific applications. This is accomplished through software/web testing; evaluating and approving development tasks as completed for their team / domain; developing, modifying, and executing software strategies and test plans; analyzing and writing test standards and procedures; maintaining documentation of test results to assist in debugging; and modification of software.

This role oversees the processes, practices, and execution of both manual and automated UAT, BAT, and Regression testing for all countries deployed on the Costco International eCommerce solution. These practices must be managed within Costco Confluence / JIRA (or other approved repository) and adhered to globally. This role will oversee the execution of these practices for every release by every country.

Job Duties / Essential Functions:

  • Designs, develops, and executes software test strategies, test plans, and test scripts.
  • Confirms accuracy and completeness of functional, integration, system, end-to-end, and acceptance test plans.
  • Designs, creates, and approves (or oversees the creation and approval of) project test cases, scripts, conditions, and QA-related documentation.
  • Develops and ensures adherence to standardized software quality assurance best practices, policies, processes, and controls as they pertain to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Develops and communicates accurate project estimates based on testing dependency analysis as requested by the project / management team.
  • Analyzes and determines test dependencies including QA environment, QA tools, training, build and deployment plans, and communication processes.
  • Analyzes relevant business content and participates in requirement gathering sessions; provides input on requirement and design documents; assesses requirements for testability, clarity, purpose, ambiguity, contradictions, and implementation.
  • Develops, documents, and leads the defect management process.
  • Ensures test cases are traceable to originating stories / requirements and fully validate feature requirements and user story acceptance criteria.
  • Manages defects by assigning, monitoring, and providing timely communication throughout the defect lifecycle.
  • Conducts QA risk management throughout the test plan phase, defining and differentiating between risks, defects, and issues.
  • Assists teammates in developing skills to understand application concepts and tools.
  • Identifies and resolves problems, often anticipating issues before they arise; develops and evaluates solutions.
  • Coordinates and oversees test team activities for in-house, onshore, and offshore testing across multiple initiatives.
  • Participates in requirement and user story reviews; ensures appropriate acceptance criteria are included and approved globally.
  • Creates and gains project approval on test plans.
  • Creates or oversees the creation and approval of test cases and QA documentation.
  • Executes tests, records results, and collaborates to identify and resolve defects.
  • Assists with and executes automated test cases.
  • Oversees or generates all QA-related documentation.
  • Ensures adherence to QA policies, processes, and documentation standards.
  • Ensures QA processes for test environments are followed and environment integrity is maintained.
  • Executes test cases, manages defects, and adheres to test schedules.
  • Attends and / or facilitates daily stand-up meetings and provides status updates.
  • Provides weekly QA project status reports.
  • Mentors and develops team members.
  • Attends sprint completion meetings and stakeholder demos.
  • Maintains regular and reliable workplace attendance.
  • Operates necessary equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, and fax machines.

Experience, Skills, Education & Certifications:

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software testing, including leadership roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of functional and backend testing for eCommerce websites and applications.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with industry-standard QA tools.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC and SQA methodologies; experience working in Agile teams.
  • Experience leading QA teams.
  • Experience with eCommerce solutions, especially SAP Commerce platforms.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with experience building tactical plans.
  • Ability to create effective test plans and test cases.
  • Familiarity with source code management, version control, and deployment standards.
  • Understanding of build tools and software configuration management.
  • High-level understanding of development methodologies and project management concepts.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Entra Identity and Access Management, including SSO / MFA integrations.
  • Experience validating APIs and identity integrations with a focus on security and compliance.
  • Experience validating backend data, token handling, and request / response flows.
  • Strong exploratory testing skills for identity lifecycle and role-based access systems.
  • Experience testing both mobile (Android / iOS) and web applications.
  • Understanding of mobile device fragmentation, OS versions, and device-specific behaviors.
  • Experience validating responsive web design across browsers and devices.
  • Willingness to travel internationally or adjust work hours for global teams.
  • Flexibility to support a 24/7 operational environment including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Recommended:

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 25 years of retail business knowledge.
  • Experience with infrastructure and software solution projects.
  • Experience in iterative development environments.
  • Experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, or Cypress.
  • Experience with mobile testing platforms like Sauce Labs, Browser Stack, or Firebase Test Lab.
  • Familiarity with debugging tools such as Charles Proxy, Android Studio Logs, or Xcode console.
  • Knowledge of French, Spanish, Korean, or Mandarin is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.).
