ABLBL has built a strong presence in the innerwear and athleisure market through Van Heusen Innerwear, which has rapidly scaled its distribution network across India. Simon Carter continues to strengthen its position in the premium menswear segment through its distinctive design language and curated collections.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Bag Design – Core Accountability
- Lead the design and development of handbags, backpacks, wallets, clutches, travel bags, and other accessories.
- Create detailed bag sketches, renderings, and CADs with strong attention to construction, functionality, and aesthetics.
- Develop bag patterns, hardware details, trims, and material specifications.
- Work closely with leather vendors, hardware suppliers, and sampling teams to bring bag concepts to reality.
2. Trend, Market & Material Research
- Conduct trend forecasting, global market analysis, and competitor benchmarking.
- Research new materials, leather finishes, hardware innovations, and sustainable components.
3. Technical Design & Product Development
- Create technical packs, construction details, and BOMs for sampling and production.
- Collaborate with factories, artisans, and production teams for smooth execution.
- Review samples, ensure alignment with design intent, and resolve technical issues.
4. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with merchandising, sourcing, QC, and marketing teams for design finalization.
- Participate in cost negotiations by suggesting feasible and cost-efficient materials/design solutions.
5. Brand, Quality & Aesthetic Consistency
- Ensure all designs meet brand standards, quality parameters, and usability expectations.
- Maintain consistency in design language across collections.
Qualification and Skill set:
- Mandatory: Degree in Leather Design / Accessory Design / Fashion Design from NIFT.
- 2–6 years of experience in designing bags and leather goods (adjust range as needed).
- Experience working with manufacturing units, export houses, or retail brands is preferred.
- Strong expertise in Bag Designing (mandatory).
- Excellent knowledge of leather types, synthetic materials, reinforcements, interlinings, hardware, and construction techniques.
- Proficiency in design software: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, 3D/CAD tools, etc.
- Strong sketching, visualization, and concept development skills.
- Understanding of patterns, sample development, and manufacturing processes.
- Creativity blended with market awareness and commercial understanding.
- Strong communication, presentation, and project management skills.
