Qualifications and Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of pediatric eye examination techniques to assess and diagnose a range of ocular conditions in young patients.
  • Proficiency in strabismus surgery, with the ability to correct misalignment issues and improve binocular vision in children.
  • Experience in providing retinopathy of prematurity treatment to prevent potential blindness in premature infants.
  • Skill in conducting pediatric cataract surgery, ensuring minimal discomfort and maximum recovery for young patients.
  • Expertise in orthoptics to evaluate and treat childhood squints and other binocular vision issues through non-surgical methods.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic ultrasonography to diagnose and monitor eye conditions when traditional examination methods are inconclusive.
  • Ability to perform refractive error correction in children, facilitating clearer vision through glasses or contact lenses.
  • Competence in binocular vision assessment to ensure proper functioning and alignment of both eyes in pediatric patients.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations to diagnose and treat visual changes in pediatric patients.
  • Conduct surgical procedures such as strabismus correction and cataract removal, ensuring patient safety and effective outcomes.
  • Collaborate with pediatricians and other healthcare providers to deliver coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding eye health, treatment plans, and preventive care measures.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments and technologies in pediatric ophthalmology to enhance patient care.
  • Maintain detailed medical records of patients, documenting procedures, outcomes, and follow-up care.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to raise awareness of pediatric eye health and its importance.
  • Ensure compliance with medical protocols and guidelines to deliver high standards of care.
