We are seeking highly skilled and experienced FII Sales Traders to join our client’s cash and derivatives team. These are two separate positions, one each for cash equities and equity derivatives.
The ideal candidates will play a pivotal role in building and expanding the Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI), Proprietary Trading (Prop), and Hedge Fund (HF) equity cash/ derivatives business. This position demands deep product knowledge, the ability to ideate and develop innovative trading strategies, and the capability to foster strong client relationships.
Reporting to the head of the derivatives desk, the incumbent will be a one-point contact for the FII clients, and the primary role is to filter and generate ideas to build the business with these clients. Typically, there are 5-8 large FII accounts that need constant handling, including global banks, hedge funds, and asset managers.
The ideal candidate will have existing relationships with FII clients. Responsibilities will include:
Revenue Generation and Client Engagement:
- Generate revenue from FII clients
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, including FPIs, hedge funds, and proprietary trading desks.
- Understand client needs and tailor solutions to enhance trading performance.
Product Expertise:
- Maintain deep knowledge of derivatives products, including options, futures, and swaps.
- Provide strategic insights and market intelligence to clients on derivatives trading opportunities.
Sales and Strategy Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the institutional equity derivatives market.
- Collaborate with clients to develop tailored trading strategies that align with their investment objectives.
Market Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to inform trading strategies and recommendations.
- Regularly report on market trends, pricing, and competitor activity.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the risk management, research, and execution teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Mentor junior traders and sales staff, sharing expertise and best practices.
Performance Metrics:
- Set and achieve revenue targets and business objectives for the institutional equities desk.
- Monitor and report on trading performance and client satisfaction metrics.
Qualifications:
Education:
- MBA or professional certification (CFA/CA) is preferred, but not required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in FII equity derivatives/ cash sales trading.
- Proven track record of building FPI, Prop, and HF business relationships.
Skills:
- Exceptional knowledge of cash equities and/or derivatives markets and products.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to derive actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client engagement.
- Proficiency in trading platforms and risk management tools.
