Job Description: General Manager – Finance & Accounts

Role Overview:
The GM – Finance & Accounts will be responsible for leading the finance and accounts function, ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role requires a strong understanding of financial operations in the maritime, logistics, or shipping industry. The GM will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, risk management, and regulatory compliance while supporting the company’s growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
- Provide financial insights to support executive decision-making and business expansion.
Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
- Ensure timely preparation of financial statements, MIS reports, and management dashboards.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to optimize financial performance.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to tax regulations, corporate laws, and maritime industry financial compliance standards.
- Oversee internal and external audits and manage relationships with auditors and regulatory authorities.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
Treasury & Fund Management:
- Manage banking relationships, fund management, and debt financing.
- Optimize capital structure and investment strategies to enhance financial stability.
- Oversee forex risk management and currency hedging strategies.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounts team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Collaborate with business units to drive financial efficiency and profitability.
- Liaise with investors, financial institutions, and key stakeholders on financial matters.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: CA.
- Experience: 10+ years in finance & accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in the maritime, logistics, or shipping sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, and industry-specific financial practices.
- Expertise in ERP systems, financial modeling, and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Industry Experience:
- Maritime, shipping, logistics, or offshore services.
