Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Core Linux Administrator with 7–8 years of hands-on experience in managing, supporting, and maintaining large-scale Linux environments. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance, security, and stability of mission-critical Linux systems in 24×7 production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and support Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu) in production and non-production environments
- Perform OS installation, configuration, hardening, and patching
- Handle L2/L3 incident management, problem management, and root cause analysis
- Monitor system performance, capacity planning, and tuning (CPU, memory, disk, I/O)
- Manage user accounts, groups, sudo access, PAM, and security policies
- Configure and troubleshoot network services (DNS, NTP, SSH, FTP, SMTP)
- Implement and manage filesystem and storage (LVM, multipath, NFS, SAN)
- Perform backup and recovery operations and support DR drills
- Manage high availability and clustering (Pacemaker, Corosync, Red Hat Cluster, Veritas basics)
- Apply security best practices including SELinux, firewall, auditing, and vulnerability remediation
- Automate routine tasks using Shell scripting (Bash)
- Support application deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (DB, Network, Storage, Cloud, Application teams)
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and runbooks
- Provide on-call and 24×7 production support as required
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Linux system administration (8–9 years hands-on)
- In-depth knowledge of RHEL/CentOS/Oracle Linux
- Proficiency in Shell scripting (Bash)
- Strong troubleshooting skills in production environments
- Experience with system monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, OEM, etc.)
- Knowledge of patching, vulnerability management, and security hardening
- Experience in filesystem, storage, and performance tuning
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
- Good communication and coordination skills
Good to Have
- Exposure to Ansible or other automation tools
- Experience with VMware / virtualization platforms
- Basic knowledge of Cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, Azure)
- Experience with DevOps tools (Git, CI/CD – basic understanding)
- Linux certifications (RHCE / RHCSA)
