Job Description:
The Senior Resident in Forensic Medicine is a critical role within a medical or academic institution, focusing on providing expert forensic medical services, conducting autopsies, and contributing to medico-legal education and research. The role requires a highly skilled individual with a strong understanding of forensic science, pathology, and medico-legal procedures.
- Medico-Legal Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed autopsies and forensic examinations to determine the cause and manner of death.
- Prepare comprehensive medico-legal reports and provide expert testimony in courts when required.
- Assist in handling cases involving injuries, sexual assaults, poisoning, and other medico-legal incidents.
- Clinical Duties:
- Manage medico-legal cases referred to the department.
- Provide forensic consultation services for clinical cases requiring medico-legal evaluation.
- Education and Training:
- Supervise and train junior residents, interns, and medical students in forensic medicine and pathology practices.
- Conduct lectures, practical sessions, and case discussions to enhance learning in forensic medicine.
- Research and Development:
- Engage in forensic research projects to advance knowledge and practice in forensic medicine.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with law enforcement agencies, legal professionals, and public health authorities in forensic investigations.
- Collaborate with other medical specialties to provide integrated medico-legal services.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure adherence to ethical, professional, and legal standards in forensic medical practice.
