What Youll Be Doing (position summary):

The Senior Business Consultant is a seasoned expert within the Business Client Centre (BCC), responsible for leading and supporting the design, planning, and execution of initiatives that drive BCCs multi-year transformation roadmap. This role provides highly specialized advice and consultation to leadership teams,leveragingdeepexpertiseto improveprocesses,optimizeoperations, and deliver strategicobjectives. The Senior Business Consultant manages complex projects, analyzes data, and develops innovative solutions to enhance client and team member experiences while supporting CIBCs vision for best-in-class, relationship-oriented banking.

How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):

  • Strategic Business Consultant:Act as a specialized business consultant, liaison, influencer, and implementer on various initiatives. Liaise with andleveragepartners on projects and initiatives, including the development and negotiation of operational solutions, business requirements, process design, and the implementation and continual improvement of operational effectiveness.
  • Relationship & Partner Management:Develop andmaintainproductive relationships with designated business owners and lines of business peers, including but not limited to Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking, Business Banking, Commercial Banking Products, Enterprise Payments, and Technology. Collaborate with Business ClientCentreoperations teams to assess needs and provideappropriate support. Manage relationships with management and senior management, working closely with various teams to achieve common goals and negotiate deliverables and milestones asrequired.
  • Change Management:Effectively manage and communicate changes thatimpactBCC to ensure smooth transitions and minimize disruption. Develop and implement change management strategies that address both people and operational aspects of change. Monitor and report on the impact of changes,identifyingand addressing issues or resistance, and incorporate CIBCs change managementmethodologyinto planning and integration practices to achieve the desired end-state.
  • Analytical and Critical Thinking:Apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyze information, provide recommendations and solutions, and assess associated risks to improve and implement changes that support BCCs goals and strategicobjectives.
  • Project Planning, Design, and Execution:Support and/or lead the development and implementation of projects and work packages, including concept development, planning and design, stakeholder management, cost-benefit analysis, and end-to-end implementation. Create, update, and track detailed project plans and status updates to deliver projectobjectivesand priorities, incorporating CIBCs change managementmethodologyas appropriate.
  • Strategic Advisor:Align assigned projects with businessobjectivesand upcoming changes for BCC and partner teams. Collaborate with leaders and team members toidentifyand address systemic operational issues and deficiencies, implementing action plans as needed. Document and train operations teamsonkey areas of operational change.Identifyand implement enhancements to client experience, team member experience, and operational efficiency. Provide reporting, business insights, and analytics to senior management asrequired.
  • Continuous Improvement:Recommend andassistin the development of new and enhanced processes, procedures, and policies to address user requirements, changing circumstances, and inefficiencies. Conduct ongoing reviews of industry best practices tomaintainexpertiseand drive continuous improvement.

Experience:10+ years of experience

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):

Must Have Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in business consulting, process improvement, or operational effectiveness, preferably within financial services or banking.
  • Professional certifications in project management, business analysis, or change management (e.g., PMP, CBAP,Prosci) are an asset.
  • Proficiencyin English (written and verbal).
  • Advanced knowledge of business process design, project management methodologies, and change management practices.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
  • Excellent relationship management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Proficiency with relevant business tools and software (e.g., MS Office Suite, project management platforms, analytics tools, and artificial intelligence applications).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
