  • Responsible for participating in development, maintenance, enhancement for application issues and system optimization.
  • Understand business requirements to provide the technical design of computer software
  • Possess high level of programming expertise in TPF C, Basic Assembler Language for the zTPF environment to develop and maintain computer software
  • Develop appropriate software and documentation according to Delta standards
  • Support and troubleshoot computer systems as required, optimizing performance, resolving problems, and providing timely follow up on all problems
  • Follow Delta standards and methodologies in the development and implementation of computer software
  • Works/Consults across multiple projects; functions as an informal leader
  • Responsible for providing hands-on expert level assistance to junior developers for technical issues.
  • Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures
  • Respects differing opinions and collaboration on creating solutions for Delta Airlines
  • Collaborate with system or application owners to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions
  • Writes custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, test cases, to do destructive testing to ensure adequate resiliency in production
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business and other IT teams across Delta
  • Identifies unsecured code areas and implements fixes as they are discovered with or without tooling
  • Identifies, implements, and shares technical solutions that can be used across the portfolio
  • Identifies product enhancements to create a better experience for the end users
  • Research and/or investigate technical issues impacting the organization and recommend solutions
  • Provides application support for software running in production
  • Proactively reviews the Performance and Capacity of all aspects of production: code, infrastructure, data, and message processing
  • Triages high priority issues and outages as they arise
  • Participates in learning activities around agile software development and development core practices, and mentors other team members in these best practices

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS):

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or Information Systems or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training in the TPF application development field. Previous airline experience ideal.
  • Excellent analytical, technology, communication, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Organized with an ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and utilize time effectively
  • Must have the ability to transform business and functional requirements into technical solutions
  • 8 – 12 years of experience working in TPF Airline Operations and application development.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies
  • Knowledge with TPF, zTPF, TPFDF, Assembler.
  • Prior exposure to airline or travel domain is a plus.
  • Willingness to work in on-call support environments.
  • Experience debugging components and code built by other developers.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and coordinate with peers, product owners, and cross functional teams and design a relevant and time to market solution.
  • Must have the ability to listen to customers and colleagues, convey ideas effectively, and prepare written documentation.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new tools and evolving technologies.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS):

  • Prior experience in handling on-call support and exposure to system optimization specifically in TPF for MIPS reduction.
  • Ideally you will have a background in the Airline industry
  • Experience in TPF APIs, AWS, Apigee will be added plus
  • Must be able to prioritize work on multiple project teams, with the overall goal of satisfying all deployment needs and effectively supporting diverse clients
