What Youll Be Doing (position summary):
The Specialist, Financial Transactions, Business Client Centre is accountable for the verification, understanding and execution of our customers financial transaction requests. The Specialist, Financial Transactions is accountable for ensuring the successful delivery of a high standard of service while upholding compliance to internal controls and procedures within the functional assigned responsibilities.

How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):
- Interpret and review all client financial transactions instructions received by fax, including the processing of cheque certification, bank drafts, cash orders, wire transfer requests, and transfers between accounts, for completeness and accuracy; identify omissions.
- Carry out verification and validation processes on cheque clearing and wire payments within CIBCs guidelines, escalating anomalies or exceptions as required.
- Validate client signature and review resolution using various systems.
- Make the necessary funds verification to ensure availability. If funds are not available, obtain pay or no-pay decision from the concerned Relationship Manager before processing.
- Process Canadian and foreign currency transaction requests, including investments received from clients, using COINS. Ensure all operations on COINS are completed in accordance with established guidelines.
- Obtain complete information on customer issues, provide detailed explanations and recommendations, and contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance client experience and operational efficiency.
- Update Client Connect with detailed information about the completion of the client request and the resolution of the customers issues.
- Coordinate and support team members efforts, and establish and maintain good working relationships.
- Interact with branches and INTRIA to facilitate requests of a transactional nature from clients.
- Regularly update knowledge of internal (e.g., new products, procedures, organizational changes) and external (e.g., technology, regulatory changes) developments to resolve client issues and respond to customer needs promptly and suitably.
- Identify unique issues or challenges, providing recommended solutions to the Manager, taking into consideration situational factors, client requirements and existing procedures and policies.
- Provide overrides to the Financial Transactions team, within the established limits outlined in the Specialists Delegation of Authority, while ensuring established procedures of risk mitigation are respected at all times.
Experience: 3+ years of experience
Who You Are (skills/qualifications):
Must Have Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in financial transaction processing or banking operations.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
- Advanced knowledge of operational processes, tools, and procedures related to financial transaction processing.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent knowledge of the policies and procedures relating to Payments Operations at CIBC.
- Detailed working knowledge of the practices, products, services, procedures and principles relating to the Commercial Bank and GIC Deposit and Payments products business units, to sufficiently provide advice and interpret policies in order to properly identify the nature of the clients request.
- Problem solving techniques and the ability to generate solutions and decide quickly on courses of action, while achieving desired objectives, with the aim of both fulfilling clients needs and strengthening the banks positions as an industry leader.
- Detail orientation and highly accurate.
