About the Role

The Infection Control Nurse (ICN) will play a crucial role in supporting the functioning of the Infection Control (IC) team in the hospital. The ICN will be involved in training healthcare workers (HCW) for infection prevention and control (IPC) activities and implementing finalized infection control protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Support the functioning of the IC team in the assigned hospital.
  • Involve in basic training of HCW for IPC activities.
  • Implement finalized infection control protocols.
  • Be aware of all hospital infection control activities.
  • Formulate policies and protocols.
  • Update and review the HIC manual with the help of the HIC team.
  • Conduct HIC surveillance rounds, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Train ICN and coordinate daily activities, outbreak management, and isolation policies.
  • Assess daily activities and conduct IC rounds of critical and non-critical areas.
  • Perform gap analysis with tools, conduct RCA and CAPA for all gaps found in surveillance activities.
  • Analyze and monitor quality indicators such as CAUTI, CLABSI, VAP, and SSI.
  • Monitor AMR with the help of tools.
  • Support project teams in implementing hospital-based IPC and AMS baseline assessment.
  • Assist project managers in evaluating baseline assessment and reporting to the hospital.
  • Work with project teams on developing a facility-specific action plan for IPC and AMS interventions.
  • Assist in drafting reports; generate reports and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Nursing graduate or postgraduate – MSc, BSc Nursing (Desired degree or relevant experience in Infection control and/or Antimicrobial Stewardship).

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of infection control and antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Ability to train and coordinate with healthcare workers.
  • Experience in conducting audits and surveillance rounds.
  • Proficient in drafting reports and presentations.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in hospital settings.
  • Familiarity with quality indicator analysis.
