About Turing:
Based in San Francisco, California, Turing is the world’s leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. Turing supports customers in two ways: first, by accelerating frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, plus top AI researchers who specialize in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents; and second, by applyingthat expertise to help enterprises transform AI from proof of concept into proprietary intelligence with systems that perform reliably, deliver measurable impact, and drive lasting results on the P&L
Role Overview:
We are seeking an AI Training Specialist (Physics) to design rigorous, upper-undergraduate–level and beyond Physics problems used to train and evaluate frontier AI models. This role focuses on creating realistic, exam-quality tasks that are solvable by humans yet challenging enough to expose failure modes in advanced language models.
Main Responsibilities:
- We are seeking an AI Training Specialist (Chemistry) to create advanced Chemistry problems for training and evaluating frontier AI systems. This role emphasizes precision, formal chemical reasoning, and realistic university-level problem design.
- Main Responsibilities
- Design and curate upper-undergraduate and graduate-level Chemistry problems with complete, step-by-step solutions.
- Develop model-breaking tasks that reflect realistic academic chemistry challenges.
- Customize problem sets to meet strict formatting and specification requirements (SI units, LaTeX, closed-form answers).
- Convert diagram-heavy or multi-part questions into clear, text-only problems with definitive answers.
- Write and verify rigorous solution processes, ensuring internal consistency and correctness.
- Evaluate AI model outputs, identify failure modes, and refine tasks to maintain difficulty standards.
- Review and improve Chemistry problems created by peers for clarity, accuracy, and difficulty.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to maintain quality at scale.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
- Strong upper-undergraduate or higher-level Chemistry background.
- Fluency in written scientific English.
- Strong LaTeX skills, including use of mhchem and chemfig.
- Experience with university-level teaching, grading, or analytical research.
- Exceptional attention to detail in stoichiometry, units, constants, and notation.
- Familiarity with AI/LLM training concepts and evaluation workflows.
- Chemistry Domain Expertise
- Organic Chemistry
- Inorganic Chemistry
- Physical Chemistry
- Analytical Chemistry
- Polymer Chemistry & Polymer Physics
- Full command of IUPAC nomenclature and stereochemistry (R/S, E/Z)
- Ability to write text-only problems that replace graphical chemical structures
- Experience with quantitative chemistry problems (equilibria, kinetics, thermodynamics, spectroscopy)
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience creating AI training or educational content
- Skill in designing strong distractors for multiple-choice chemistry questions
Perks of Freelancing With Turing:
- Work in a fully remote environment.
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI projects with leading LLM companies.
- Potential for contract extension based on performance and project needs.
