Position: Lead – Optics Development
Location: Mumbai
Experience: 6-12 Years
Industry: Analytical Instruments / Medical Diagnostics
Role Overview:
The selected candidate will lead the design and development of advanced optical systems for analytical and diagnostic instruments. The role involves end-to-end ownership from concept design through validation and production readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead optical system design and development activities
- Design and optimize UV-Vis / spectroscopy-based detection systems
- Perform optical simulations, tolerance analysis, and stray light analysis (Zemax preferred)
- Develop illumination and imaging subsystems
- Select and integrate photodiodes, PMTs, lasers, IR detectors, CMOS/CCD sensors
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electronics, software)
- Drive prototype validation, calibration, and performance testing
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards (ISO 13485 preferred)
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
Required Skills:
- 6-12 years of experience in Optical R&D
- Strong hands-on experience in Zemax OpticStudio
- Experience in spectroscopy / analytical instrument development
- Knowledge of photonics, optoelectronics, interferometry
- Experience in stray light and tolerance analysis
- Strong problem-solving and system integration capabilities
Preferred Background:
- Medical diagnostics or laboratory instruments
- Gas analyzers / environmental sensors
- OCT / fluorescence / imaging systems
- Exposure to regulated environments
Education:
M.Tech / M.Sc in Photonics, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
