About The Opportunity

Healthcare — Eye Care & Ophthalmology: A fast-growing clinical network focused on delivering high-quality cataract and anterior-segment care across underserved regions. We run outpatient clinics, surgical units and community screening camps to reduce avoidable blindness and improve visual outcomes in Odisha.

We are hiring a Consultant Ophthalmologist (Phaco/SICS) on-site in Odisha — an early-career opportunity ideal for freshers who have completed a dedicated fellowship in SICS and phacoemulsification and are ready to deliver patient‑centred surgical care in a high‑volume, quality‑driven setting.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform cataract surgeries (phacoemulsification and SICS) under standard operating protocols with appropriate supervision during the initial period.
  • Conduct comprehensive outpatient clinics: pre‑operative evaluation, surgical planning, informed consent, and post‑operative follow‑up care.
  • Maintain accurate surgical logs, EMR records, operative notes and outcome documentation to monitor quality and patient safety.
  • Participate in community screening camps and outreach programs across Odisha; manage on‑site surgical camps when required.
  • Adhere to sterilisation, infection‑control and ophthalmosurgical safety protocols; expedite clinical issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with nursing and optometry teams; contribute to continuous improvement, clinical audits and peer learning sessions.

Skills & Qualifications

Must‑Have

  • MBBS with postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (MD/MS/DNB/DO) or equivalent, plus a recognised fellowship in SICS and Phaco.
  • Valid medical registration with the appropriate State Medical Council.
  • Hands‑on experience in phacoemulsification and SICS during training/fellowship; demonstrable surgical competence.
  • Proficiency in anterior‑segment examinations and diagnostics (slit‑lamp, gonioscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, A‑scan).
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and standard operative documentation.
  • Ability to work on‑site in Odisha, including occasional outreach or camp‑based assignments.

Preferred

  • Experience participating in cataract outreach camps or community eye programmes.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent emergency‑response training.
  • Prior exposure to EMR systems used in private clinics or eye hospitals.

Benefits & Culture Highlights

  • Structured mentorship for freshers with supervised surgical ramp‑up and regular skill‑building sessions.
  • Opportunity to work in high‑impact community programmes and build a robust surgical portfolio.
  • Supportive multidisciplinary teams, clear clinical governance and pathways for career progression.
