The Consultant Gastroenterologist will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care for patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. The role involves outpatient consultations, inpatient management, endoscopic procedures, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Role & responsibilities
Diagnose and manage gastrointestinal, hepatic, pancreatic, and biliary disorders
Conduct outpatient clinics and inpatient rounds
Perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures (e.g., upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy)
Manage emergency gastrointestinal conditions and on-call duties as per hospital policy
Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, anesthetists, and other specialists
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and clinical protocols
Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement activities, and continuing medical education
Guide and supervise junior doctors, residents, and nursing staff
Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and preventive care
Experience
3-5 years of experience as a Consultant Gastroenterologist (preferred)
Hands‑on experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy
