Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Digital Architect to lead the design and evolution of scalable, secure, and compliant digital ecosystems within the MedTech domain. This role will define and govern enterprise architecture across connected medical devices, digital health platforms, cloud infrastructure, data systems, and regulatory-compliant software solutions.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in healthcare technology standards, cloud-native architectures, cybersecurity, and regulated software development aligned with frameworks such as FDA and MDR requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Enterprise & Solution Architecture
- Define and maintain end-to-end digital architecture for connected devices, mobile/web applications, and cloud platforms
- Develop reference architectures for IoT-enabled medical devices and digital therapeutics
- Lead architecture design reviews and governance processes
- Align digital strategy with business and clinical objectives
2. MedTech & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure architecture complies with healthcare regulations (FDA, MDR, HIPAA, GDPR)
- Design systems aligned with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971
- Support software classification and risk management processes
- Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory Affairs teams
3. Cloud & Platform Engineering
- Architect scalable and secure solutions on platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Define DevSecOps and CI/CD architecture
- Lead containerization and orchestration strategies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Implement API-first and microservices-based architectures
4. Data & Interoperability
- Design healthcare data platforms supporting standards such as HL7 and FHIR
- Ensure interoperability with EHR systems and hospital IT environments
- Architect secure data pipelines, analytics platforms, and AI/ML enablement
- Define master data governance and cybersecurity strategies
5. Cybersecurity & Privacy
- Establish zero-trust architecture principles
- Implement secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC)
- Conduct threat modeling and security risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and patient data protection standards
6. Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor engineering teams and solution architects
- Partner with Product, Clinical, Regulatory, and Commercial teams
- Evaluate and select technology vendors and platforms
- Support M&A technical due diligence when applicable
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
- 14+ years in software architecture, with at least 3–5 years in MedTech or regulated healthcare environments
- Strong knowledge of medical device software lifecycle standards
- Proven experience designing cloud-native healthcare systems
- Experience with IoT device connectivity and secure firmware/software integration
- Familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 820, EU MDR, and SaMD frameworks
- Expertise in cybersecurity best practices for medical devices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Software as a Medical Device (SaMD)
- Experience integrating with major EHR vendors (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Knowledge of AI/ML applications in medical devices
- Certification in cloud architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification
