Position Summary:

The Vice President (VP) in the Planning Department will support MUFGs Global KYC Operations

transformation agenda. This leadership role within the Global KYC function of MUFG Global Service

is responsible for leading global project management initiatives, drive harmonization of policies,

processes, systems, and talent, and ensure effective risk management and governance as a part of

KYC Transformation Project.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Project Management & Transformation:

  • Develop and execute project plans for global KYC standardization, optimization, and transformation programs.
  • Drive harmonization of policies, processes, systems, data models, and governance structures across regions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project teams, ensuring high performance, accountability, and capability enhancement.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multiple global stakeholders, ensuring alignment, transparency, and timely delivery.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Represent the KYC function in regional and global forums, working groups, committees, and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates, insights, and strategic recommendations to senior and executive management.
  • Build influential relationships with internal partners across Compliance, Operations, Technology, Legal, and Front Office.

People Development:

  • Drive talent management, succession planning, and long-term capability building for the KYC organization.
  • Foster a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative team culture across multiple geographies.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and career development guidance to direct reports and emerging leaders.

Business Analysis & Operational Transformation:

  • Conduct comprehensive business analysis across MUFG branches globally to identify operational gaps and opportunities.
  • Recommend optimization levers that enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve customer experience.
  • Support the design, testing, and deployment of streamlined processes, standardized procedures, and improved system functionalities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, effective use of KYC tools and systems across the organization.

Regional Consolidation & Integration Initiatives:

  • Assist in formulating strategic plans for operational consolidation across regions, identifying synergies and defining target-state operating models.
  • Drive implementation of approved integration initiatives, ensuring seamless and coordinated cross-functional execution.
  • Track program progress, proactively address roadblocks, and escalate risks/issues where required.
  • Prepare clear, insight-driven management reporting covering outcomes, realized benefits, and future-state recommendations.

Governance, Controls & Quality:

  • Develop and implement frameworks that enhance productivity, strengthen risk controls, and drive standardization across KYC operations.
  • Ensure full adherence to compliance, regulatory, and internal standards, maintaining high levels of data accuracy and process completeness.
  • Identify process or project gaps, assess impacts, and recommend mitigation actions to senior management

Job Requirements:

Technical & Functional Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of global KYC requirements, operational processes, and supporting systems.
  • Proven experience in KYC transformation, target operating model design, or operational reengineering.
  • Ability to verify, interpret, and analyze operational data for project direction.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and other PM tools.

Experience:

  • 15+ years with minimum 2-3+ years in KYC operations or transformation roles (global standards preferred).
  • Experience in operational system design, development, and implementation.
  • Experience coordinating with overseas teams or supporting regional/global initiatives is a strong plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Result-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple complex initiatives.
  • Ability to manage conflicts, handle escalations, and drive consensus across diverse teams.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Flexibility to support multiple time zones as needed.
