The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented analytical & biochemist head to lead the
analytical R&D function. The role plays a pivotal part in the characterization of bio-based
molecules and fermentation-derived products, leading efforts to quantify the concentration,
purity, structural attributes, and functional performance of biomolecules produced through
fermentation processes.
The role requires strong analytical expertise, a deep understanding of enzyme and protein
molecules, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional
R&D and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
Assay Development
- Establish a dedicated bio-assay workflow to measure enzyme activity, and novel protein identification; quantification by spectrophotometry and ELISA etc.
Protein analysis & characterization
- Standardizing SDS-PAGE, protein quantification and purity assessments using FPLC, HPLC etc.
- Coordinating cross functional teams for the protein/enzyme production, downstream processing using advanced techniques and ensuring high activity and purity.
- Nutrition proximate analysis of nutraceutical & health supplement products with sound knowledge in the product development for nutraceutical; pharmaceutical enzymes, proteins , sweeteners.
Scale-Up Analytics
- Support the transition from bench-top to pilot plant by developing on-line analytical techniques for real-time monitoring of the production.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with industry standard safety norms, data integrity and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain laboratory equipment in good condition and ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures. Author and implement MOAs & SOPs for all equipment.
Team Management
- Recruit and mentor, a high-performing, agile team of specialists.
What We’re Looking For
- MSc. in Biochemistry/Biotechnology with analytical skills or Ph.D. in a relevant field is preferred.
- 7-10 years in Biotech/nutraceuticals, with proven experience building or managing laboratories.
- Proficiency in protein chemistry and enzymology, HPLC, GC-MS and LC-MS techniques.
- Experience with proteins/enzyme kinetics and quantitative assays.
- Familiarity with computational tools for ELN and LIMS.
