Role Overview
The Senior Director – Knowledge Management will lead the KM function and will be responsible for building and running the end-to-end KM program. This individual will translate senior leadership’s vision into quarterly and half-yearly roadmaps, stand up new programs from scratch, drive adoption firmwide, and coach the KM team to deliver A+ quality work that meets or exceeds stakeholder expectations. The role requires acting as a bridge between the KM function and consulting verticals — proactively identifying knowledge gaps, designing interventions, and reporting on KM’s business impact to leadership.
What You Will Do
- Own the KM roadmap: identify gaps, define strategic priorities, build business cases for investment, and present the roadmap to senior leadership for alignment and resourcing
- Own the KM technology roadmap: evaluate, select, and drive adoption of platforms (SharePoint, Glean, etc.) and any AI-powered tools for intelligent search and knowledge capture
- Build a scalable case study production process that consistently supplies high-quality BD-ready collateral within a week of project closure
- Curate and continuously enhance the resource library (playbooks, frameworks, deliverable templates) to accelerate project ramp-up and reduce time-to-value for client engagements
- Define and track key KM metrics — KM portal adoption rates, content utilization, time-to-knowledge, case study pipeline velocity, contribution to BD proposals — and report impact monthly to the leadership team
- Lead firmwide KM adoption by driving change management campaigns and evolving rewards, recognition, and gamification strategies to incentivize and sustain knowledge contribution, curation, and reuse.
- Partner with Branding and Internal Communications to drive consistent KM visibility across channels and lead the conceptualization and execution of the annual KM event to align with firmwide strategic priorities.
- Actively identify skill gaps within the KM team and design upskilling plans to develop the KM team: set clear goals, conduct regular 1:1s, and provide real-time coaching
Ideally, You Have
- 10+ years of experience in Knowledge Management, Program Management, or related roles at consulting firms, professional services, or high-growth organizations.
- Undergraduate degree with strong performance; Master’s degree and/or MBA is a plus.
- Proven track record of building and scaling KM programs — including standing up new processes, designing architectures, driving adoption, and reporting on business impact — not just maintaining existing repositories
- Strong understanding of KM frameworks, taxonomies, content lifecycle management, and content management platforms (SharePoint, Glean, etc.)
- Hands-on experience evaluating and implementing KM technology, including AI-powered tools for intelligent search or knowledge capture
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to write BD-ready case studies, and present strategic recommendations to Senior leadership
- Ability to influence without authority across all levels of hierarchy; experienced in securing buy-in from stakeholders who don’t report to you
- Player-coach orientation: willing to personally execute high-quality work while progressively building team capability to take ownership
- Strong critical thinking, structured problem-solving, and analytical skills — able to use data to identify gaps, prioritize interventions, and demonstrate KM ROI
- Experience in data & analytics, consulting, professional services, or PE environments is highly preferred; familiarity with consulting project lifecycle, case study creation, and BD processes is a strong advantage
