Job Overview:

We are hiring a Business Intelligence Engineer for our Advanced Analytics and Reporting team. This role is best suited for someone with a strong curiosity to understand business operations and a passion for turning data into meaningful insights. You will act as a solution partner to stakeholders, translating business requirements into impactful analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. A key focus of this role is continuous learning, both in understanding the business and adopting modern technologies such as AI-driven Business Intelligence, including conversational and agentic experiences within reports. The ideal candidate should have an eye for intuitive, visually compelling dashboards, along with the ability to explore data, uncover insights, and communicate clear data stories. You will also contribute to building scalable data solutions, ensuring data reliability, performance, and consistency. This is a hybrid role (manager’s discretion) within the Business Intelligence and Performance Management (BIPM) team.

Responsibilities for Power BI Developer:

  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business operations, KPIs, and BI requirements.
  • Translate requirements into well-defined Jira epics, stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Design and develop scalable data models and pipelines within Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouses, Direct Lake, Dataflows).
  • Build and optimize Fabric and Databricks Notebooks for performance and reliability.
  • Develop Power BI reports and dashboards with a focus on usability, performance, and visual storytelling.
  • Leverage AI-driven BI capabilities (insights, conversational/agentic experiences) to enhance user interaction.
  • Perform data analysis to uncover trends, insights, and actionable recommendations.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, governance, and security across all reporting solutions.
  • Collaborate within Agile/Scrum teams, actively participating in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Work closely with senior developers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Present insights and solutions to stakeholders, enabling data-driven decision-making.
  • Maintain clear technical and functional documentation for all deliverables.
  • Continuously learn and adopt new technologies in Fabric and AI to improve BI capabilities.

Requirements:

  • 1- 3 years experience.
  • Advanced expertise in Power BI (Desktop & Service), including DAX, Power Query, and semantic data modeling.
  • Strong experience in building scalable, high-performance data models and optimizing report performance.
  • Hands-on experience with the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (Lakehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Warehouses, Deployment Pipeline).
  • Proficiency in SQL (complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning).
  • Experience with Databricks Notebooks (PySpark/SQL) for data transformation and advanced analytics.
  • Experience with version control tools like GitHub.
  • Solid understanding of data architecture (ETL/ELT, medallion architecture, data pipelines).
  • Experience in data analysis, with the ability to derive insights and present compelling data stories.
  • Strong focus on data visualization, UX, and intuitive dashboard design.
  • Experience implementing Row Level Security(RLS) and data governance practices.
  • Exposure to Paginated Reports and enterprise reporting standards.
  • Hands-on experience or strong interest in Agentic AI / AI-driven BI, including:
  • Conversational analytics and chatbot integrations
  • AI-assisted insights within BI tools
  • Experience integrating Power BI with external services/APIs for enhanced interactivity.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and version control in BI development.
  • Experience with Power Automate.
  • Domain experience in Oil &Gas or similar data-intensive industries is a plus.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • Engineering Degree or master’s degree in petroleum, Mechanical, Computer Science/Analytics, or other quantitative fields.
