About this Role

The DGM – Accounting Centre of Excellence (IFRS 9 / IFRS 15 / IFRS 16) is a pivotal role within Vodafone’s Accounting Competence Centre, operating under the Group’s End‑to‑End Accounting & Reporting framework.

The individual provides strategic accounting leadership, ensures compliance with IFRS standards, and acts as a central governance authority supporting Vodafone’s markets globally.

As part of Lean Corporate Services (LCS), the Accounting CoE is responsible for driving standardisation, automation and high‑quality reporting across Vodafone Group. The role contributes directly to shaping, governing and continually improving global Record‑to‑Report (RTR) processes.

You are a technically strong and collaborative accounting professional with deep expertise in IFRS 9, IFRS 15 and IFRS 16. You enjoy working in complex, cross‑functional environments and excel at guiding stakeholders through accounting judgement, governance and assurance.

You combine analytical skills with strong communication abilities, and you take pride in enabling high‑quality, compliant and timely financial reporting across multiple markets.

What you will do

Accounting Centre of Excellence & Governance

  • Provide functional guidance and ensure consistent adherence to IFRS 9, IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 across markets.
  • Lead accounting projects with detailed understanding of Vodafone‑specific commercial scenarios, contractual arrangements and accounting outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Group Financial Reporting and Accounting Principles & Advisory teams to ensure alignment of policy, judgement and application.
  • Support local Chief Accountants in delivering accurate financial statements, disclosures and management reporting under IFRS or local GAAP.
  • Partner with RTR solutions and transformation teams to drive strategic accounting initiatives globally.
  • Provide expertise for major commercial, transformation and VOIS process improvement projects.
  • Strengthen and evolve global RTR frameworks, including Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Revenue, Lease and Accrual Governance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as the CoE subject‑matter specialist for IFRS 9 / IFRS 15 / IFRS 16 across cross‑functional programmes.
  • Own accounting considerations from design to implementation for transformation initiatives.
  • Propose efficient, compliant and scalable accounting solutions tailored to business needs.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable accounting and reporting outcomes.
  • Maintain oversight of process performance, quality gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Drive automation, standardisation and control enhancements across IFRS processes.
  • Maintain strong governance frameworks supporting accurate and compliant reporting.

What skills you need

Core Competencies, Knowledge & Experience

  • Expert understanding of IFRS 9, IFRS 15 and IFRS 16, including application to complex commercial and financial structures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of revenue recognition, financial instruments and lease accounting.
  • Experience in large, dynamic and matrixed organisations.
  • Strong technical accounting judgement and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • A collaborative and customer‑focused mindset.

Must‑Have Technical / Professional Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on experience with IFRS 9 / IFRS 15 / IFRS 16.
  • Demonstrated experience in finance transformation projects.
  • Strong IT and data analytics literacy.
  • Understanding of the telecommunications industry.
  • Skilled in coordinating stakeholders and delivering high‑quality outcomes.
  • Analytical, adaptable and collaborative approach with strong prioritisation abilities.

  • Clean audit results with no material issues.
  • On‑time and high‑quality Income Statement and Balance Sheet Reviews across markets.
  • Strong governance and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
