Position Summary

As a Solar Design Engineer, the role involves collaborating with project teams to design and optimize solar energy systems using specialized software and simulation tools. Responsibilities include conducting pre bid engineering comprising of EYA, SLD, Array Layout & BOQ and Post Bid engineering upto MV level along with ensuring IS/IEC, safety, quality, and industry standards. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams, evaluate components, review performance data, and stay updated with industry trends.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering management, feasibility studies, and front-end design for MW Scale ground mount solar PV and BESS projects, including energy yield assessments (EYA) and technology evaluations.
  • Focus on India-based projects, supporting development and acquisitions across all technical aspects.
  • Optimize and analyse new projects, determining the appropriate sizing of DC and AC major electrical equipment’s (transformers, switchgear, conductors, etc.).
  • Lead the development of basic designs, including layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and provide technical oversight during construction.
  • Expertise in both DC and AC solar power plant design and engineering, working with multidisciplinary teams and preparing /reviewing technical reports.
  • Prepare and review EPC contractor bids, designs, and reports for compliance with specifications and contract requirements.
  • Experience with bi-facial module PV projects, BESS projects, using tools such as PVCase, PVsyst, SketchUp and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of solar photovoltaic systems, BESS , installation practices, and familiarity with IS, UL, and IEC standards.
  • Proficient in power system studies(load flow, short circuit, relay coordination) and performing complex engineering calculations.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of engineering drawings, documents, and compliance with project schedules.
  • Prepare and Review designs, BOQs, and vendor deliverables, coordinating with teams to meet client requirements.
  • Provide technical clarifications to the site execution team and supportinter-departmental collaboration.
  • Estimate man-hour requirements and coordinate reviews of design drawings, ensuring alignment with project needs.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors/master’s in electrical engineering or related field; specialization in renewable preferred.

  • Homer

Project Management:

  • Experience in managing design projectsfrom conception to implementation
  • Ability to coordinate with other engineersand stakeholders

Renewable Energy Systems:

  • Understanding of solar energy systems and their integration into existing infrastructure

Experience

  • 4-8 years of experience in Solar Industry. EPC background shall be highly preferrable.

  • Project Management experiencea plus.
