Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Position: Assistant Professor – Chemistry (AI & Emerging Technologies Focus)

Role Summary:

The Assistant Professor – Chemistry will be responsible for delivering engineering‑oriented Chemistry education integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, and computational tools. The role focuses on interdisciplinary teaching, AI‑enabled laboratories, applied research, and curriculum innovation aligned with modern engineering and industry requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach Engineering Chemistry and Applied Chemistry courses with integration of AI, data‑driven modeling, and computational chemistry concepts.
• Design and deliver curriculum incorporating AI applications in chemical analysis, materials science, nanotechnology, energy systems, and smart manufacturing.
• Develop and conduct AI‑augmented laboratory experiments, simulations, and virtual labs.
• Integrate tools such as Python, data analysis platforms, molecular modeling software, and simulation techniques into teaching and labs.
• Guide student projects involving AI in Chemistry, including predictive modeling, materials discovery, green chemistry optimization, and process automation.
• Engage in interdisciplinary research resulting in publications, patents, funded projects, and industry collaborations.
• Mentor students for academic excellence, research initiatives, innovation challenges, and startups.
• Contribute to curriculum development, revision, and implementation as per NEP 2020, UGC, and accreditation (NBA/NAAC) requirements.
• Participate in academic administration, quality assurance initiatives, FDPs, workshops, and outreach programs.
• Uphold institutional values, academic integrity, and professional ethics.

Eligibility & Qualifications:

• PHD in Chemistry / Applied Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry with First Class or equivalent from IIT, NIT or IISc is highly appreciated.
• Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related interdisciplinary area with relevance to AI, computational chemistry, materials science, or chemical data science (Mandatory).
• NET / SET qualification as applicable under UGC regulations.
• Teaching, research, or industry experience in AI‑enabled or technology‑oriented chemistry applications is desirable.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong foundation in Engineering Chemistry and Applied Chemical Sciences.
• Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, data analytics, and computational methods applied to chemistry.
• Proficiency in Python or similar programming tools, molecular modeling, or simulation software.
• Ability to adopt innovative pedagogy, blended learning models, and digital teaching platforms.
• Research orientation with interdisciplinary and application‑driven outlook.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, teamwork, and academic leadership skills.
