The Role
As UI/UX Designer, you will design Zillwork’s mobile applications for users who may be using a smartphone app for the first time. Voice-first interaction patterns, large touch targets, minimal text dependency, and multilingual interfaces — these are your design constraints. They are also what make this role different from any other design job.
What You Will Do
– Design the primary user app: voice-first patterns, accessibility-first, minimal reading required
– Design the platform-side app: activity creation, applicant management, communication flows
– Build Zillwork’s mobile design system: dark theme, green accents, Tamil and English UI components
– Conduct user research: visit communities, observe real users, test on real devices
– Test designs on entry-level Android phones (Redmi A3, Jio Phone Plus) — that is your benchmark
– Work with React Native engineers for precise implementation from Figma to code
– Design multilingual onboarding for users with limited prior app experience
What We Are Looking For
– 5+ years UX/UI design with mobile app portfolio
– Figma — proficient, with design systems experience
– Understanding of accessibility and low-literacy UX design principles
– Android-first design experience
– Ability to do user research and usability testing
– Portfolio showing real, shipped mobile application designs
Bonus: Experience designing for low-literacy, first-time, or emerging market users, Tamil language reading and writing, Figma to React Native design handoff experience
