Overview:

TheAI & DPE (Decision Product Enablement) BizOps team is lookingfor a Manager who will lead a team of Site Reliability Engineers.This team is responsible for day to day platform availability, Tier2 & 3 support, defect resolutions, CI/CD pipelines, customerintegrations, platform automation, monitoring/alerting maturity andITSM maturity. – Are you a born problem solver who lovesto figure out how something works? – Are you a CI/CD geek who lovesall things automation?

– Do you have a lowtolerance for manual work and look to automate everything youcan?Business Operations is leading the DevOpstransformation at Mastercard through our tooling and by being anadvocate for change & standards throughout the development,quality, release, and product organizations. We need team memberswith an appetite for change and pushing the boundaries of what canbe done with automation. Experience in working across development,operations, and product teams to prioritize needs and to buildrelationships is a must.

Mission :Therole of business operations is to be the production readinesssteward for the platform. This is accomplished by closelypartnering with developers to design, build, implement, and supporttechnology services. A business operations engineer will ensureoperational criteria like system availability, capacity,performance, monitoring, self-healing, and deployment automationare implemented throughout the delivery process. BusinessOperations plays a key role in leading the DevOps transformation atMastercard through our tooling and by being an advocate for changeand standards throughout the development, quality, release, andproduct organizations. We accomplish this transformation throughsupporting daily operations with a hyper focus on triage and thenroot cause by understanding the business impact of our products.The goal of every biz ops team is to shift left to be moreproactive and upfront in the development process, and toproactively manage production and change activities to maximizecustomer experience, and increase the overall value of supportedapplications. Biz Ops teams also focus on risk management by tyingall our activities together with an overarching responsibility forcompliance and risk mitigation across all our environments. A bizops focus is also on streamlining and standardizing traditionalapplication specific support activities and centralizing points ofinteraction for both internal and external partners bycommunicating effectively with all key stakeholders. Ultimately,the role of biz ops is to align Product and Customer Focusedpriorities with Operational needs. We regularly review our runstate not only from an internal perspective, but also understandingand providing the feedback loop to our development partners on howwe can improve the customer experience of our applications.

Responsibilities:• Engagein and improve the whole lifecycle of services—from inception anddesign, through deployment, operation and refinement.• Analyze ITSMactivities of the platform and provide feedback loop to developmentteams on operational gaps or resiliency concerns• Support servicesbefore they go live through activities such as system designconsulting, capacity planning and launch reviews.• Maintainservices once they are live by measuring and monitoringavailability, latency and overall system health.• Scalesystems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolvesystems by pushing for changes that improve reliability andvelocity.• Support the application CI/CD pipeline for promotingsoftware into higher environments through validation andoperational gating, and lead Mastercard in DevOps automation andbest practices. • Practice sustainable incident responseand blameless postmortems.• Take a holistic approach toproblem solving, by connecting the dots during a production eventthru the various technology stack that makes up the platform, tooptimize mean time to recover• Work with a global teamspread across tech hubs in multiple geographies and timezones• Share knowledge and mentor junior resources

Qualifications:• BE/B.Tech degree inComputer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g.,physics or mathematics), or equivalent practicalexperience.• Experience with algorithms, data structures,scripting, pipeline management, and software design.•Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strongcommunication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.•Ability to help debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks.• We support many different stakeholders. Experience indealing with difficult situations and making decisions with a senseof urgency is needed.• Experience in one or more of thefollowing is preferred: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl orRuby.• Interest in designing, analyzing andtroubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.• We needleaders with an appetite for change and pushing the boundaries ofwhat can be done with automation. Experience in working acrossdevelopment, operations, and product teams to prioritize needs andto build relationships is a must.
