Role Overview:
Hardware Engineer will play a key role in the design, development and implementation of hardware systems for smart metering products. This position involves leading hardware design projects, working closely with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that the products meet performance, quality, and regulatory standards. You will work on cutting-edge technologies related to energy metering, IoT, wireless communications, and embedded systems. This is a senior role who will require to work with global clients and travel to places like SEA, EMEA, NAM, and LATAM.
Responsibility:
Hardware Design & Development of smart water, electricity and gas meters with communication system based on Cellular, RF and NBIoT technology | Preparation of Design document, WIS and BoM | Design PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) and other hardware components with a focus on low-power consumption, high reliability, and cost efficiency | Collaborate with software engineers to integrate hardware with firmware, ensuring seamless system functionality | Testing of platform, products and components | Complete product validation and documentation as per standard | Module wise circuit testing, analysis, troubleshooting and documentation | Negotiate and decide as a cross functional team leader with suppliers, components makers |Prototyping and Testing | Develop prototypes and oversee the testing of hardware components to validate performance and ensure they meet product specifications | Conduct electrical testing, validation, and troubleshooting of smart metering products, including power analysis, signal integrity testing, and component analysis | Perform failure analysis and work with the quality assurance team to resolve issues |
Accountability – Project Management : Manage hardware design projects from concept to production, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met | Lead design reviews, cross-functional meetings, and collaborate with product management and R&D teams to align hardware requirements with product roadmaps | Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and sharing expertise in hardware design best practices | Ensure efficiency and effectiveness of projects though DFMEA, DFM, DFT, DFA and PFMEA | Run design pilots |
Education, Qualification and Experience :
Bachelor’s and/or masters in Electronics and Telecommunication engineeringMore than 5 years of senior experience in working with smart energy meters and communication system.Experience in evaluation and selection of componentsExperience in Altium Designer will be added advantage.Excellent knowledge of microcontroller based embedded solutions development.Hands on experience in analogue and digital electronic circuit design.Expertise in designing and development of Power supply i.e., DC-DC converter, Fly-back converter, Cap drop power supply.Proficiency in analysing and solving EMI/EMC issues.Expertise in writing and performing unit tests.Expertise in Integration of I2C, SPI, UARTHands on experience in test equipment’s including MSO, DSO, Analysers.Solid understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and low-power circuit design.Hands-on experience with testing and debugging equipment (e.g., power analysers).
